We are a small, older, established church with a long history in our community of 200 years. We are members of our local French Creek Baptist Association, and are a member of American Baptist  Churches of Pennsylvania and Delaware. Our church board is made up of all members with subcommittees of Elders, Deacons, Christian Education and Missions. We are located on route 20 in the village of West Springfield, 25 miles west of Erie, PA and 6 miles east of Conneaut, OH. Our congregation is made up of all age groups and a variety of different household types. Everyone is warmly welcomed here because faith and love together enables us to recognize all people as people Jesus loves and so we put aside human differences to Glorify Him.  Our Church holds the distinction of being the oldest Baptist Church in Erie County Pennsylvania. It was organized in April of 1820 with a charter membership of 18 in private homes. In 1883 a building was erected at Springfield Center, the corner of what is now Nye Road and Route 20.  The building was later conveyed to Springfield Township for a Town Hall on November 12, 1859. The present church is the result of a decision made on November 15, 1857, when the congregation voted to move their meetings to West Springfield. Plans were made and on July 8, 1858, a site on Ridge Road (Route 20) was selected and in late August the building committee began work to raise funds for the new church. A great deal of thought was given to enlarging the current facilities in May of 1953. Two years later on May 1, 1955, under the ministry of Rev. Gavin Skelton, ground was broken. This increased the number of Sunday School rooms, adding a pastor’s study and junior church rooms. We meet on Sunday mornings for Sunday School followed by weekly worship. We are blessed with multiple trained teachers and can accommodate children from preschool level to adult. Our curriculum committee coordinates teaching across the spectrum of age and education levels.
